In Indonesia, His Husband Made a Proposal.
Paul Drayton and Alan were together for ten years before becoming engaged in 2016. While they were on vacation in Indonesia, Paul shocked Alan with a romantic proposal, but of course, the occasion had a dash of humor. In Lombok, when he proposed to me, Alan said, “I went to the bathroom and came back to eat dessert.”
Alan, however, believed the engagement ring that was buried in his pudding to be a filling. “On my God, a filling has come out, just my luck on vacation, I thought. It is this ring when I pull it out!”
His Wedding Was Officiated by Adele.
Since they first met at the BRIT Awards in 2008, Alan and singer Adele have become great friends. In an interview with The One Show, he stated: “She is a buddy, not a prize I won in a contest! We’ve known her forever.” Adele and Alan are so close that she presided at his wedding to Paul due to their friendship.
“When we told her about our impending nuptials, she asked if she could arrange the entire day for us. She completed everything at her LA home. She sang our first dance, and it was incredible. We all know she’s a one-off, so I’ll never be able to pay her back.”
