After more than 20 years of marriage, Steve Burton and his estranged spouse Sheree Burton have decided to divorce.
Steve, 52, filed for divorce on Monday, according to a spokesperson for the Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem actor.
Steve identified March 1 as the formal date of separation in documents acquired by TMZ, which broke the news first. He also cited “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for the divorce.
The lawsuit was filed two months after Steve startled his followers by admitting that he and his 47-year-old fitness professional wife, who is currently expecting a child, were no longer together.
The former General Hospital actress clarified in an Instagram Story in May that “Sheree and I are separated” and added, “I wanted to clear something up.”
He kept going, “She recently disclosed the news of her fourth pregnancy. It’s not my kid, though. Our three lovely children are still co-parented by us. We would appreciate some privacy right now. Steve, I love you.”
