The Sandman is one of the most celebrated and widely followed DC Comic books created by the acclaimed writer & author Neil Gaiman. He is a powerful, talented and prominent figure in the world of writing especially when it comes to his genre that is dark fantasy and science fiction. His bestselling works include Good Omens, The Ocean at the end of the lane, etc. The Sandman is finally being made into a series, despite futile attempts to bring it to television in the past. Overview

The world of Sandman is absed in 1916, when Dream is incarcerated by a group of black magic ovcultists, it deals with his escape, him trying to battle issues that fall on his way to as he attempts to regain the control of the world of dreaming & the powers he once possessed. Its themes include Freedom, the importance of those dreaming and the perils associated with dreams, the power of dreams and more.

Story and Plotline

Since the story has various volumes & is divided into a number of books, it is difficult to assume the plot in a definitive & clear manner, however the premise of the show states: “In 1916, Morpheus, the king of dreams and one of the seven Endless, is captured in an occult ritual. After being held captive for 105 years, he escapes and sets out to restore order to his kingdom of the Dreaming.”

Cast

The show contains an immense cast of total 49 members as per IMDb, its lead cast although includes Tom Sturridge as Dream, with Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, and Sanjeev Bhaskar in supporting roles.

Release Date

The fab favorite comic book’s show adaptation is all set to premiere on August 5, 2022. Not very long from now, we’re just as excited as the rest if you to see how one of the most loved science fiction and dark fantasy story has been remastered & smoothened for it to become a cohesive, screen appropriate show.

Netflix has given us a teaser just yesterday with the date announcement of the series. In the trailer we could see, Dream being the king , the ruler of the nightmare realm, in a more contemporary setting, his existence being considered a fairy story, then he coming to know that his kingdom, his realm nit being the way he left it, and him escaping the prison.

The trailer had received 1.5 million views on YouTube. About 8 months ago, on 25th September we were given the first look of the show in a minute teaser, showing dream being imprisoned during an occult ritual.

Fans reactions

Fans are digging the teaser, they’re appreciating the visuals & are highly looking forward to their favorite comic series that has now been made into a show. It has gotten new and old fans impressed with whatever they’ve seen of the cast & the dailogues have also left a mark on them, perfectly creating the world they’ve been seeing in the comics. Total Episodes

The upcoming show’s first season will be composed of ten episodes. The titles haven’t been announced yet, but ten episodes have been listed on IMDb & Wikipedia.

What to expect?

Expect fantastic dark visuals, outstanding performance as the show has a stellar cast, the storyline of the book. Sice the story is one if the most famous it is highly unlikely that they will modify it majorly or even minor details as that could lead the story to change in its nature, it can be expected that everything we’ve read and known will shown in a more concise manner.
