Although it may occasionally appear as though Jennifer Lopez is a superhero, she periodically forgets that she is not superhuman. The famous performer discusses why that is such a risky mistake to make in her email newsletter “On the JLo.”

She recalls, “There was a point in my life when I used to sleep three to five hours at night.” I spent my days working on set, my nights in the studio, and my weekends going on junkets and shooting videos. I believed I was unstoppable when I was in my late 20s. (Did we not all.)

“Until one day, I was sitting in a trailer, and all the work and the stress it brought with it, along with not enough sleep to recover mentally, caught up with me,” the speaker says. According to Lopez, she went from feeling entirely normal one second to being utterly immobilized the next.

It’s more crucial to get up and take action on days when you’re feeling down, she said. “Get in a quick workout at home, do something that will make you feel good, and prepare a dish you like. Lift your head and carry on.

In her Netflix documentary Halftime, J.Lo also discussed her periodically erratic mental health. In it, she said that her personal life’s media preoccupation and the Hustlers movie’s Oscar snub both contributed to periods of extremely low self-esteem. But she claimed that by surrounding herself with relatives, she manages to stay positive. And of course Ben Affleck.
